Day 1      MADRID

Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Free time of leisure. At the agreed hour panoramic tour of the city: Alcala Street; Gran Via, cultural and commercial heart of Madrid; Paseo del Prado, with the world-famous museums Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza, Reina Sofia, etc. Dinner and accommodation.

 

Day 2      MADRID

Breakfast. In the morning visit of Prado Museum, one of the largest in the world. With 200 year-old, nowadays, the Museum’s collection has more than 7,000 paintings, 1,000 sculptures, 4,800 prints and 8,200 drawings, in addition to a large number of objects of decorative arts and historical documents. Among the treasures which can be seen today in the Museum are jewels as the Three graces of Rubens, Velázquez’s Las Meninas, The executions of Goya, The washing of Tintoretto and The deposition of Roger van der Weyden, etc.

Lunch. By the afternoon, visit of ‘’Madrid de las Letras’’ (Madrid’s writers neighborhood). If in the morning we have devoted to painting, in the afternoon we enter in the more traditional and former Madrid: discover new corners of the Barrio de las Letras, unique in Europe. Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Tirso de Molina, Calderón de la Barca. During the Golden Age these famous writers and many others shared more than profession: once lived in the area that extends around Huertas street, today pedestrian street which has become one of the most crowded in the city centre of Madrid.

Dinner and accommodation at hotel.

 

Day 3      MADRID-GRANADA

Breakfast. Departure to Granada. Arrival and lunch. In the evening, panoramic visit of the city: Cathedral, one of the best examples of the Renaissance in Spain; the Royal Chapel; District of the Albaicín, declared World Heritage, etc. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 4      GRANADA

Breakfast. In the morning visit of the Alhambra, example without equal of how light and water offer important decorative effects to architecture. A careful choice of materials makes its ornamentation to change according to the incidence of light. The water works as a mirror reflecting the architecture and decorative elements, contributing to a sense of peace. Built following Arab style, its austere exterior contrasts with the delicate decoration of rooms and patios.

Lunch. Free time of leisure in the afternoon to enjoy the city.

 

Day 5      GRANADA-SEVILLA

Breakfast. Departure to Sevilla. Arrival and lunch. By the afternoon visit to the town: Torre del oro, the Cathedral with the famous Giralda Tower, ‘’Barrio de Triana’’ (Triana’ s neighborhood), etc. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 6      SEVILLA

Breakfast. Free time of leisure in the morning to continue visiting the city on your own: may move to the Museum of fine arts, where you will be able to enjoy works by Velazquez, Goya, El Greco, etc. Or you can enjoy the city driving horse carriage, typical of Seville. Also visit the typical bars of Seville, and taste its famous Tapas (small portions of homemade typical dishes). In the afternoon, we will make the route of Flamenco. No doubt Seville means flamenco. We will begin by ‘’Barrio de Triana’’ (district of Triana), where are the best schools of Flamenco and the sound of the guitars and flamenco singing is heard from every small street. Then we will visit the Museum of Flamenco, owned by the world famous flamenco dancer Cristina Hoyos, where you can learn the origins of this universal art. We will end the day with a flamenco unique show in a local of ‘’Barrio de Santa Cruz’’ (Santa Cruz neighbourhood). Accommodation.

 

Day 7      SEVILLA-CÓRDOBA

Breakfast. Departure to Cordoba. Visit of this unique city, washed by the Guadalquivir River, where a solid Roman bridge connects its banks. We will walk through the streets of the Jewish quarter, the Synagogue, unique in Andalusia, with inscriptions of Hebrew Psalms (14th century), etc. Lunch and visit of the Palace of the Catholic Kings, with its splendid gardens. Free time.  In the night tour we will visit – in a spectacle of light and sound – the Cathedral, also called Mezquita (due to its muslim origin), heart and soul of the city. The Mosque began to be built in the 7th century and has capacity for more than 50,000 people in its interior. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 8      CÓRDOBA

Breakfast. Free day of leisure to walk through the city. Cordoba still has numerous charms to visitors: wander through the streets of the Jewish quarter, visit the Mosque (the famous Mezquita) in the light of the day, approaching the ruins of Medina Azahara, where every year new jewels of the antic splendid Arabic city are discovered; etc.

 

 

Day 9      CÓRDOBA-MADRID

Breakfast. At the agreed time back to Madrid. Accommodation.

Day 10 MADRID

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport and boarding on flight back
